First Book Club Meeting – Orphan Train

I had my first book club meeting this past Sunday and had a blast. It was great meeting all of the other ladies there(no guys have joined so far) and I can’t wait until the next meeting. It was great to be able to read the same book as a few other people and actually be able to talk about it. We must of spent almost two hours talking about the book and various things related to it.

We didn’t just talk about the book either. Since it was about orphans we also talked about how the foster system is today. I also didn’t know about the orphan trains that ran back in the 1920s. It’s crazy to think that thousands of children got piled onto trains and shipped out west to basically work on farms and help people out around the house. I couldn’t imagine something like that going on today.

The book itself was pretty good. I’d give it a 4/5. It took me a little longer than I expected to really get into the book but I really ended up enjoying it. I can’t wait to see what we’re reading next month. I definitely plan to keep going to meetings 🙂
