Goodbye Steroids!

For now.

I’m finally off of the budesonide. I was on some form of steroid from December 28th, 2013 until October 31st, 2014. That’s a long ass time. I started off on prednisone and then moved over to budesonide. I took about 5 weeks to get off of it. I prefer the slow taper method when trying to get off of steroids. Hopefully I won’t have to go back on them anytime soon.

I’m doing ok on the Humira. I have my good days and bad days. But my bad days aren’t the worst I’ve ever had. It might be like 5 BMs in an hour, but then my stomach settles back down. I’m not sure if it’s from my Fructose Malabsorption or what but I think it may be related to that.

I’m also not doing so well with taking my pills. Like my iron and vitamin D supplement. I’m starting to hate swallowing pills. As odd as that sounds. I wish I could take the gummy vitamins but they normally have fructose in them and I can’t have that 😦

I’ve also gone a little “book crazy” over the last  month. I’ve bought quite a few books and ebooks. I have like 20-30 books to read right now. I’m also starting to collect signed books by some of my favorite authors. I’d love to be able to go to a comic con one of these days to actually meet them. That would be so awesome.

I found out over the last month that not getting enough sleep also affects my Colitis. The less sleep I get the higher the chance I have of having an upset colon the next day. For the most part it’s my fault for not getting enough sleep. I’ve been staying up playing video games(like World of Warcraft) or reading. So it’s just something I need to discipline myself on. I just have to make myself go to bed at 11pm.
