About Me

Hi everyone, my name is Kenzie. I have struggled with gastrointestinal issues for most of my life, but I didn’t realize how bad it was until after I got diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease on 2016-01-22 12.24.43December 19th, 2013. My diagnosis has been bouncing around between Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis since then. Right now my diagnosis is Ulcerative Colitis but I identify as Indeterminate Colitis. There is no diagnostic code for Indeterminate Colitis at this point.

My IBD has been a pain in the ass to treat. I’m allergic to Imuran and I have very bad reactions to melsalamine drugs(5ASAs). I’m currently on weekly doses of Humira and that seems to be working well. I’m hoping that I can continue to be on it for a while. I think the next step after Humira is Remicade but we’ll cross that bridge when it gets here!

I also suffer from Eczema and Rheumatoid Arthritis. At least that is what my Rheumatologist is going with right now. It’s hard to diagnose someone with another autoimmune disease when you’re already on medications that are suppressing your immune system.

I originally started this blog to talk about my fructose malabsorption that I got diagnosed with in July of 2013. It has evolved quite a bit since then. Now I’m blogging about IBD and the books I read. I also plan to blog more about my motorcycle(I haven’t been doing a good job of that). So you will be seeing a little bit of this and that on here. I hope you enjoy and decide to stick around.

~Kenzie
