#FridayReads – The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night by Mark Haddon

I have not read this book before. It is the book that my book club voted to read this month. The meeting is on Sunday and I still have like 100 pages to read! Which shouldn’t take me that long. I hope.

But so far it’s a very interesting book wrote from a completely different kind of voice that I haven’t seen before. It’s pretty interesting.

#FridayReads: A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas

#FridayReads - A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas I’m doing this Friday Reads a little differently. I read this book a few weeks ago but I was out of town for work when I read it and I did not make time to blog about it!

Feyre survived Amarantha’s clutches to return to the Spring Court—but at a steep cost. Though she now has the powers of the High Fae, her heart remains human, and it can’t forget the terrible deeds she performed to save Tamlin’s people.

Nor has Feyre forgotten her bargain with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court. As Feyre navigates its dark web of politics, passion, and dazzling power, a greater evil looms—and she might be key to stopping it. But only if she can harness her harrowing gifts, heal her fractured soul, and decide how she wishes to shape her future—and the future of a world cleaved in two.

A Court of Mist and Fury was an amazing book. It’s the second installment of A Court of Thorns and Roses and I can’t wait until the third book comes out! I’m not sure if I can survive until May when it’s scheduled to be published. I want to know SO BADLY what’s going to happen. The plot twist at the end with Feyre, Tamlin, Rhysand and Feyre’s family was INSANE. Sarah J Maas really does know how to create a cliffhanger!

If you like fantasy books I definitely recommend this series! It’s amazing, keeps your interest and you want to keep coming back for more.

What are you reading this weekend?

#FridayReads – The Raven King by Maggie Stiefvater

The Raven King by Maggie Stiefvater I had been anticipating this book for a while and I was a bit disappointed with it. And it sucks to be disappointed with a book that you’ve been waiting to come out for a while. This series had so much building up for the ending and it felt like a letdown, to be honest.

The tone, or voice, of the story, changed. Even though it was the same author. And I haven’t really experienced that before with a book that the same author is writing. And it bugged me. A lot.

This book also felt rushed. That may have been the publishers or editors doing. But that didn’t make me happy either. So, overall, I really liked the series but I wasn’t too happy with how it ended. It ended ok, but it still left me with the feeling of “WTF just happened?!” It just wasn’t satisfying.

I read some reviews on Good Reads about this book and some people loved how it ended. So you will have to decide for yourself!

#FridayReads Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater

2016-07-09 20.53.37

There is danger in dreaming. But there is even more danger in waking up.

Blue Sargent has found things. For the first time in her life, she has friends she can trust, a group to which she can belong. The Raven Boys have taken her in as one of their own. Their problems have become hers, and her problems have become theirs.

The trick with found things though, is how easily they can be lost.

Friends can betray.
Mothers can disappear.
Visions can mislead.
Certainties can unravel.

Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater is the book I am reading this Friday. It is the third book in the Raven Cycle series. I’ve only read this book once so I’ve forgotten a lot about it. I’m really glad that I decided to re-read the series before I start the fourth book! I’m hoping to start that one within the next couple of days.

I also read The Dream Thieves this week. It’s the second book in the series. A lot of the book is from Ronan’s and Adam’s perspective. I enjoyed seeing how they analyzed things that have been happening in the story line.

I’m very excited about finishing this book and starting the fourth one! I don’t know if it’s the last book in the series or not but I can’t wait to see where things go!

#FridayReads: The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

2016-07-02 10.18.07

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these posts. I’m going to try and get back in the habit of writing them on Friday’s preferably. But I forgot to do it last night! It’s been a busy week with work and I completely forgot to do this when I got home.

I have a lot of books on my “to read” shelf right now. One of those books is the fourth book in The Raven Cycle series by Maggie Stiefvater. Which means that I am currently re-reading the whole series! It is a series that I enjoy. I can’t wait to see what the fourth book has in store! I’ve been waiting for it to come out for a while.

I’ve read a few other books since my last #FridayReads update:

  • The Fiery Cross by Diana Gabaldon
  • The Tiger: A True Story of Vengeance and Survival by John Vaillant – May Book Club
  • The Betty Davis Club by Jane Lotter – June Book Club

Now that I’ve seen that I haven’t read that many books since April I’m a little disappointed in myself. I normally read a lot more than that. But I’ve been watching too much TV(I really should stop watching so much TV)! I wish I had some patio furniture to sit outside and read. The weather has been pretty nice lately! Maybe next summer.

*What are you reading this summer?
